      The Philippines is the land of birth of the Filipinos. It is composed of more than 7,107 small and big islands. 

       The three big islands are  Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

       Luzon - is the largest island. It is located in the northern part of the country. The ethnic groups found in Luzon are the Ilocanos, Tagalogs, Pangasinenses, Pampangos, and Bicolanos.

       Visayas - is the smallest island. It lies south of Luzon. The different ethnic groups in the Visayas are the Cebuanos, Boholanos, Ilonggos and Warays.

         Mindanao - is the second largest island in the Philippines. It is located in the south. Most of the ethnic groups (katutubo) in Mindanao are Muslims. The ethnic groups found in Mindanao are the Maranaos, Manobos, Maguindanaos, and Tibolis . The other ethnic groups include the Samals , Subanons, Yakans, the Tausugs and the Badjaos.
